VisitPITTSBURGH Hires Domestic and International Group Sales Director

VisitPITTSBURGH, the official tourism promotion agency for Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, recently hired Kathleen “Katie” Conaway (pictured right) to the newly created position of domestic and international group sales director. This position was developed to expand VisitPITTSBURGH’s strategic efforts to promote the region to international markets.

Before joining VisitPITTSBURGH, Conaway held several roles in Pittsburgh’s vibrant Cultural District including director of education and outreach as well as group sales and audience development manager at Pittsburgh Public Theater and group sales coordinator at Pittsburgh CLO.

“We are thrilled to have Katie onboard in this exciting new position,” says Karl Pietrzak, vice president of convention sales. “Her work skills and experience in group sales will enhance our tourism efforts of promoting Pittsburgh as an international destination,” adding, “We look forward to opening eyes of the world with Katie’s help.”

In her new role, Conaway is responsible for promoting domestic and international group tourism to travel to the greater Pittsburgh area. She’ll attend international tradeshows, media marketplaces and work alongside the Allegheny County Airport Authority on joint international marketing endeavors.

Conaway obtained her Master’s Degree in Arts Development and Program Management from the University of Denver and graduated from Waynesburg University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts Administration. She currently serves as the secretary of TJ Arts, a group supporting the arts in the West Jefferson Hills School District.
