Visit Orlando and mobiManage partner to provide mobile technology for meetings

Scottsdale, Ariz.-based mobiManage, a company that designs, develops, manages and markets mobile websites and mobile applications, has seen tremendous growth and demand from convention facilities and meeting planners for its new mobiConvention and Events product. Visit Orlando, the destination marketing organization for Orlando, Fla., has selected mobiManage as its preferred provider to offer easy-to-use, branded convention mobile sites and apps, which allow its meeting planners to use mobile phones to access and update their conference information.

“mobiManage has seen incredible growth over the past year, particularly in the travel and tourism industry, which is rapidly expanding into the mobile website and application space,” said Doug Ralston, president of mobiManage. “With 5.3 billion mobile subscriptions across the world, mobile is quickly becoming the most powerful channel to communicate with customers. It’s great to see an organization like Visit Orlando recognize this trend and work with us to capitalize on it.”

Visit Orlando is looking to highlight the benefits of mobile meeting guides, allowing meeting planners to save time and money, and making it easy to make changes on the fly. The Convention sites and apps will also feature easy access to everything Visit Orlando has to offer, including restaurants, bars, hotels and events, and will encourage visitors to explore the city.

“Targeting travelers and mobile-savvy smart phone users, Visit Orlando knew mobile access to meeting information would generate traffic from mobile devices, and they needed a mobile-friendly site specifically for their meeting attendees,” said Ralston. “They wanted a meeting site that was easy to use and is accessible by users anywhere and anytime from the palm of their hands.”

The new site will be easy to navigate and update, and includes features such as speaker notifications, interactive maps, calendar of events and GEO location. It will also allow users to find restaurants, hotels and other businesses near them, and view their complete meeting schedule. mobiManage also implemented social media buttons and instant messaging technology, so meeting attendees can communicate while they are attending the event or conference.
