VGF gives new meaning to ‘Going Dutch’

To encourage organizers of international multi-day conferences to choose Holland as their destination, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, NBTC Holland Marketing and some 20 partners from the convention industry set up the Pre-financing & Guarantee Fund (VGF) in the late 1980s.

The VGF fund helps conference organizers to cover pre-conference expenses and other financial risks by offering two schemes:

  1. A pre-financing scheme which allows organizers to borrow up to EUR 90,000 to cover their initial expenses, at no charge and without having to pay interest;
  2. A financial guarantee of up to EUR 90,000 to cover possible losses due to disappointing numbers of attendees.

Organizers may choose to use one of the two schemes or both.

VGF is a unique tool that makes available financial securities that no other European destination offers. Until now, mainly Dutch organizers have made use of the two schemes provided by the VGF. However, it is also available to international organizations planning a multi-day international conference in Holland, thus reducing their financial risks significantly.

To inform international organizers, VGF will be represented at IMEX Frankfurt from May 19-21 at stand E100 to give new meaning to the old adage of “Going Dutch.”
