U.S. and Global Exhibitions Days a Success

A coordinated effort among national and worldwide exhibition industry leaders brought the importance of trade shows and events to the spotlight with the U.S. Exhibitions Day and Global Exhibitions Day just recently held in early June.

In the United States, more than 100 people representing the industry converged on Washington, D.C., to meet with lawmakers about the impact legislation can have on the success of the industry. In a series of meetings, officials also educated legislators about the economic impact of the industry, particularly with regard to the international business trade shows and events attract.

Globally, events in 75 countries brought attention to the industry, raising the collective voices of people representing venues, service providers, and show organizers. Spearheaded by UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, the second annual worldwide event was unified under the theme “Think Global – Act Local” and the hashtag #GED17, and included a diverse array of activities including mass photos, lectures, building wraps, group skydives and more. In total, thousands of individuals participated in some form to help publicize the cause.

“I am especially thrilled by the mix of senior industry leaders and young professionals who took part in GED events everywhere” said Kai Hattendorf, UFI CEO. “And the fact that exhibition and event professionals from all around the world have come together to promote our industry as a whole clearly shows what we as an industry can achieve together.”
