Summer greetings!

Already into the fifth month of the year and everybody is busy taking care of
customers.Keep up the effort, you won’t feel as guilty taking a little down
time this summer!

Our staff is busy keeping up with the hectic industry we cover…

don-headshotJoin me in congratulating the nine industry women who grace this issue’s cover!
Coming from different backgrounds and perspectives, these women are great
examples in leadership and integrity. Our organization is proud to highlight
some of the many women who collectively form a force that makes such a positive
difference in the daily world of tradeshows and events. Perhaps you know others
worthy of recognition? Join in on the discussion through ExhibitCityNews.com.

ADDITIONAL EXHIBITOR2014 COVERAGE: The May print edition also features six
products originally introduced as part of the New Product Showcase at
EXHIBITOR2014 (page 52). ECN Managing Editor Zeenath Haniff takes a look at
four companies and their creative booth concepts, from a formulaic approach to
design to the reinvention of whimsical childhood tales. All this in addition to
new features on lighting and tension fabric and information on what design
students have been doing lately.

ECN takes you to the city of Dalton, Ga., where we bring you how carpet is made
from the famed “Carpet Capital of the World.” In this feature, we share the
journey from raw materials to finished rolls of carpet ready to grace show
floors. This special ‘on the scenes look’ is brought to you by the Donald E.
McNabb Company, celebrating 60 years in business!

Just south of the border, ECN visits the seashell-shaped Puerto Vallarta
International Convention Center in central Mexico where its growing convention
business helps sustain both the facility and the natural preservation area
surrounding it. With all profits applied toward maintaining the ecosystem of
the seaside destination, the venue earns honorable mention for its innovative
business model.

With our regional focus on Latin America, ECN learns the key differences
between exhibiting trends in the Latin American, European, Asian and U.S.
markets from another formidable female force in the industry.

We also pay tribute in this issue to a dear friend of the industry, Ron
“Ronnie” Lusk. Considered a father figure at Coastal International, Ronnie’s
mentorship will hardly be the only lasting memory the industry will have to
cherish.

20TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION: To kick off our birthday of 20 years
young, ECN is teaming up with E2MA at the Red Diamond Congress this summer to
begin the festivities. Join us on July 30 to celebrate our anniversary! Check
in at E2MA.org and ExhibitCityNews.com for more details.
