Snapshots of Asia’s convention centers

For exhibitors looking to take their work outside of the usual places, several destinations in Asia have state-of-the-art convention centers. Although the travelling might require a little more effort, moving a tradeshow to a different and unique convention center opens up the exhibiting process to a world of new possibilities.

Kuala LumpurKuala Lumpur Convention Center
The Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC), located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysai and part of the Kuala Lumpur City Center precinct, was designed to be a city within a city. The 99-acre property includes a 50-acre park and the PETRONAS Twin Towers.

KLCC has five exhibit halls, making a grand total of 104,000 square feet of exhibit space. The venue is also home to six ballrooms and conference halls for another 45,000 square feet of meeting space.

The Center is also equipped with up-to-date and state-of-the-art audio/visual equipment. They also provide an in-house graphic artist to help with any logos or design work that might be needed on-site. Aquaria KLCC, a 60,000 square-foot underwater park, is located beneath the convention center.

Hyderabad International Convention CenterHyderabad
The Hyderabad International Convention Center (HICC) is the first purpose-built convention facility in India. The main hall has approximately 70,000 square feet of space, which can hold up to 5,000 attendees, and can be separated into six different rooms if needed.

A pre-function foyer space is also available. This has another 65,000 square feet of space. Over 30 breakout rooms are located in the HICC, which can all be specialized for meeting needs.

The facility was also built with leading design, technology and telecommunications equipment. The Novotel Hyderabad Convention Center, located adjacent to the HICC, has 287 hotel rooms to meet guest accommodations.

Pacifico YokohamaPacifico Yokohama
Pacifico Yokohama, which means “pacific convention,” is a convention complex located on the waterfront in Yokohama, Japan. The center includes the National Convention Hall of Yokohama, as well as a conference center, exhibition hall and hotel.

The exhibition hall holds over 215,000 square feet of exhibit space. The annex has over 14,000 square feet, and the National Convention Hall of Yokohama has seats for over 5,000 guests.

Among the amenities at Pacifico Yokohama are up-to-date technological capabilities, as well as a service staff that is available 24/7.

EXCOExco
Opened in April 2001, EXCO is the first exhibition and convention center in Korea. The Center has the capacity to hold tradeshows larger than 215,000 square feet.

The main exhibition area, which was expanded in May 2011, has been expanded to offer 246,000 square feet of space. The convention rooms, which include a hall, an auditorium and several conference rooms, total another 130,000 square feet. Five total halls can be divided into eight different spaces.

China National Convention CenterChina National Convention Center
The China National Convention Center (CNCC), located in Beijing, is one of the largest meeting facilities in China. With over two halls, three ballrooms, six exhibition spaces and 20 other meeting rooms, CNCC can offer over 450,000 square feet of space.

Among the amenities offered at CNCC are lots of advertising space, equipment rentals, high-speed internet and connections, and on-site waste management.

CNCC also includes a 420-room hotel that is connected to the convention center by a walkway. The hotel offers gourmet chefs, high-speed internet and a laundry service for travelling attendees.
