San Diego Convention Center rated best in Southern California

For the third consecutive year, the San Diego Convention Center (SDCC) was named best convention center by Southern California Meetings + Events, a publication targeted to meetings and event planners and suppliers. The SDCC was honored at the magazine’s Best Of Readers’ Choice Awards event held October 19, 2011, at FLUXX Nightclub in San Diego.

The bayfront facility, noted by the magazine for its waterfront location, flexible meeting and event space, as well as close proximity to San Diego’s finest hotels and restaurants, was ranked above Anaheim and Palm Springs Convention Centers by Southern California Meetings + Events readers.

“We are very grateful to be chosen by the individuals we strive to please most, our clients, as Southern California’s top meeting and convention facility for a third year in a row,” said Carol Wallace, president and CEO of the San Diego Convention Center Corporation. “This is an honor shared by every one of our employees who are dedicated to providing all of our guests with the five-star service experience that San Diego is known for throughout the meetings and events industry.”

This is the third annual Best Of Awards celebration for Southern California Meetings + Events magazine. More than 2,000 readers cast their ballots online this spring.

Now celebrating more than 20 years of service, the San Diego Convention Center has generated $18.3 billion in regional economic impact, $364 million in tax revenues for the City of San Diego and supports 12,500 jobs countywide. The San Diego Convention Center Corporation is a public benefit corporation created by the city to exclusively market, manage and operate the 2.6 million square-foot waterfront facility.
