Reed Exhibitions China launches second management-associate program

As Reed Exhibitions China reinforces its recruitment to support expansion across second- and third-tier cities, the company is preparing to launch the second edition of its grassroots-training program.

The Reed Exhibitions Management Associate Program (RMAP) takes outstandingreed_china graduates and gives them theoretical grounding in the exhibition industry together with practical experience over a structured three-year progression.

“Within the industry, you often hear about a dearth of talent in exhibition management,” said Preecha S. Chen, president, Reed Exhibitions Greater China. “RMAP is our practical solution to that issue. As the industry leader, China has been an incredibly positive host for us. We want to give back in a way that is practical and long-lasting.”

Reed is the only local exhibitions organizer to run such an initiative. First held in 2010, this year’s RMAP will identify a number of outstanding candidates, all of whom are recent graduates. Following the completion of the recruitment process, the chosen candidates will enter into a three-year program in either Beijing or Shanghai, where they will work in key functions, like marketing, sales and project management.

“We’ve designed the program to do more than just equip the management associates with the skills to operate in this highly dynamic industry,” said Chen, “We believe we’re training the very people who will eventually lead Reed Exhibitions.”

Reed already has strengthened its presence in China’s second-tier cities this year with successful editions in Chengdu, Hefei and Xiamen, among other cities. Reed’s RMAP is designed to ensure the firm’s long-term success in China as well as the sustained health of the country’s exhibitions industry through a blend of experience and promising young talent.
