Record number of attendees expected for AHR Expo in New York

Expecting 60,000 attendees to New York City’s Javits Center is what NYC & Company planned to do as the AHR Expo kicked off.

Dubbed the largest exposition for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration products, the 66th AHR Expo ran Jan. 21-23.

Officials with NYC & Company, the city’s official marketing, tourism and partnership organization, expected the number of attendees to this year’s show would exceed numbers of 58,000 total visitors from 2008.

Fred Dixon, interim president and CEO, NYC & Company, said conventions and tradeshows are economic drivers for the city.

“We are pleased to welcome back the AHR Expo to New York City and project it will be a groundbreaking event contributing to the further growth of our $58.7 billion tourism industry,” said Dixon.

The local economic impact from this year’s show was expected to be about $110.7 million, according to show officials.

This year’s expo, produced by the International Exposition Company, featured nearly 2,000 manufacturers and suppliers.
