Pop culture icons descend on Cincinnati Comic Expo

Calling all pop culture and science fiction fans! Cincinnati USA is set to host the 5th Annual Cincinnati Comic Expo at the Duke Energy Convention Center Sept. 19-21.

ECN 092014_MDW_Cincinnati Comic ExpoIf the story has a cult following, visitors will likely encounter some aspect of it at this year’s Expo. Actors who portray some of pop culture’s most memorable characters along with their creators will be in attendance. With activities for fans of all ages, the weekend promises a full schedule of events.

“Hosting an event with such enthusiastic attendees is something our entire hospitality community enjoys,” said Dan Lincoln, president and CEO, Cincinnati USA Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Many of the actors and celebrities that are coming in for this event are cultural icons for multiple generations of Americans. This is a great event, and I look forward to welcoming both the stars and the attendees to the region.”

This year’s expo expects 10,000 attendees as well as more than a dozen comic legends, celebrities and star props:

Scheduled events include:
•    Cincinnati Film Festival, multiple locations
•    Bricks by the Banks, a collectible Cincinnati Comic Expo LEGO figure will be distributed.

The Cincinnati Comic Expo opens on Friday 3-8 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-7 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. More information can be found at cincinnaticomicexpo.com.
