PCMA Heartland is set to host “Destination Celebration,” a networking event for sales representatives from over 30 destinations and hotel NSO partners on April 16 at Studio Dan Meiners in Kansas City, Mo.

“We are really thrilled with the amount of support we have received in our second year hosting this event in Kansas City,” said Event Chair David Kinney, who is also PCMA Heartland President Elect/Secretary and Director of Midwest Sales for the Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Kansas City’s meetings market has always been very special for many of us. We are also very thankful for the 39 CVBs, ALHI and MGM Resorts that have all joined forces to sponsor this event. It’s going to be an electric evening, all in support of Meetings Mean Business Coalition, and the first annual North American Meetings Industry Day.”

According to Lisa Lopez, event co-chairman and director of sales – Midwest & incentives of NYC & Company, the host city significantly contributed to the event’s growth from the previous year.

“It is such a pleasure to be back in greater Kansas City for the second year as Co-Chairman of the Destination Celebration. What started out last year as six destinations hosting a few clients has grown significantly this year, which is credit to the robust meetings community in Kansas City,” said Lopez. “We return this year with renewed enthusiasm as the event supports North American Meetings Industry Day. The Destination Celebration is a great opportunity to recognize the economic impact the industry provides our respective destinations. NYC & Company is proud to have our Senior Vice President of Convention Development Jerry Cito serving on the Board of Directors for the Meetings Mean Business Coalition, and to continue to focus attention on the importance of face to face meetings.”

David Peckinpaugh, MMB co-chair and president of Maritz Travel, shared MMB’s enthusiasm in partnering for NAMID.

“We are energized by the enthusiasm of organizations in cities all across the United States, Canada and Mexico who have pledged their support for NAMID,” said Peckinpaugh. “The meetings and events industry is a contributor to economic growth, a generator of jobs and a driver of positive business outcomes. MMB is thrilled to join with our partners and launch this important advocacy day for our industry.”
