PCMA co-locates the Virtual Edge Summit with 2011 Convening Leaders

Adding value to its already popular annual meeting, the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) announced that the Virtual Edge Summit (VES) 2011 will be co-located with the 55th PCMA annual meeting; Convening Leaders.

Annual meeting attendees will gain both strategic and tactical knowledge of virtual and hybrid meetings as a result of the economical, and time-sensitive co-location.

Convening Leaders will be held January 9-12, 2011, and the Virtual Edge Summit will be January 12-13, 2011. Both events will take place at the Las Vegas MGM Grand.

“We at PCMA believe that virtual meetings are not only the wave of the future, but excellent complements to face-to-face meetings,” said Deborah Sexton, president and CEO PCMA. “We’re dedicated to keeping our members at the forefront of the meetings profession with the education and resources they need to position their meetings and organizations for the future. We’re pleased to partner with the VES, which is considered the best of the best for virtual meetings education.”

VES will offer a range of educational sessions and workshops specifically designed for meetings professionals, as well as senior level managers, marketing staff, and IT professionals. It will cover strategy, as well as how-to, and is appropriate for those new to digital event offerings, in addition to experienced virtual and hybrid event producers.

“Our goal is to have associations and companies ready to move forward as soon as they return from the Summit,” said Michael Doyle, executive director of the Virtual Edge Institute, producer of VES. “We have a comprehensive education program that deals with issues around planning, funding, marketing, content development, event production, and of course measurement. The leading solution providers are also on hand to offer hands-on demos and talk about services available to assist with planning, production and execution.”

Sessions topics will include

Convening Leaders ends after lunch on Wednesday, January 12 and attendees can add VES education on Wednesday afternoon for no extra cost as long as they register in advance. Convening Leaders attendees can also add Virtual Edge education on Thursday, January 13 for $99.

Registration is now open for PCMA members, and non-member registration opens September 27.

“The Virtual Edge Summit is an exceptional opportunity for our members to expand their knowledge base and dive into an important topic for our industry,” said Kati Quigley, CMP, PCMA chairman of the board. “This co-location is an excellent example of how PCMA is striving to add value for our members, even as their time and money are becomingly increasingly limited.”

Freeman, a PCMA strategic partner, was instrumental in connecting VES with Convening Leaders, which has long been considered the most important event of the year among meetings industry leaders.

More than 3,000 meetings professionals are expected in Las Vegas for four days of networking opportunities, education and the latest innovations.

In addition to the 60-plus sessions that address legal issues, revenue streams, attendance-building, professional development and more. This conference is designed to help attendees build strong relationships with other meetings, convention, and exhibition professionals.
