NEPCON South China 2011 is most successful ever

The 2011 edition of NEPCON South China, which came to a close September 1, was a true record-breaker. Over three days, and 403,646 square feet, the Reed Exhibitions China-produced event welcomed 26,374 visitors from the electronics manufacturing trade.

This figure represented a significant increase over last year. Among the attendees were 4,824 VIPs (17 percent more than in 2010) and 576 Diamond Club members (a 35-percent jump from the same period). Additionally, 1,232 buyers from high-profile electronics firms took part in the show.

More than 1,000 pieces of electronics manufacturing equipment (including test and measurement products and other components) were showcased on-site by over 500 exhibitors from 22 countries and regions.

“We are delighted to provide the industry with an expansive product showcase that covers South China’s entire electronics manufacturing chain,” said Josephine Lee, vice president of Reed Exhibitions East China.

In addition to traditional surface mount technology, test and measurement equipment, soldering, electro-static discharge (ESD), machine vision (MV), electronics manufacturing services (EMS), tools and robots were other highlights of the trade fair.

“The excellent organization by Reed Exhibitions China is a big part of why the show drew such a massive audience this year,” said Seo Daewon, director for China SMT Business, Shanghai Samsung Mechatronics & Trading. “Our company managed to connect with many of our target customers. The new Samsung products that we displayed were enthusiastically received by visitors, and we have since received numerous orders as a result of exhibiting at NEPCON South China 2011.”

NEPCON South China, which is one of longest standing trade and purchasing platforms in South China’s SMT industry, focuses on the entire manufacturing chain across South China. By featuring the newest products and technologies, the show gives participants key information about market development trends and how to meet customers’ diverse demands.

“We were glad to welcome such a high number of customers to our booth,” said Yuji Ueda, Juki Corp’s sales director of the Industrial Devices Division. “They were very keen to see our newest products. We were also really happy with the services Reed Exhibitions China provided, and we’re already looking forward to coming back here next year.”

For NEPCON South China 2011 to be a truly international, one-stop purchasing platform, the organizers, Reed Exhibitions China leveraged their best resources and integrated them across multiple channels.

Alongside the traditional manufacturing equipment and processes displayed on the show floor, NEPCON South China 2011 featured manufacturing technologies from one of the industry’s fastest emerging sectors: LED lighting. These included a varied array of LED products like backlight modules, displays, indoor lamps and street lamps. The introduction of this segment was an intentional strategy by the organizers, Reed Exhibitions China, to attract international suppliers keen to cultivate fresh business contacts, launch new products and promote their services.

“We attach great importance to NEPCON South China every year. 2011 was no different as our company sent 80 delegates,” said Zheng Tingyong, facility management supervisor at Zhuhai Gree Electric Appliances. “We came to evaluate key technologies in order to better understand what influences product performance and learn about the latest industry trends.”

One of the aims of NEPCON is to provide professionals with the chance to learn more about their industries and establish an efficient platform for communication. NEPCON South China 2011 achieved this by hosting several technical forums and live activities. The SMTA China South Conference, organized by SMTA China, evaluated important issues in electronics manufacturing, advanced packaging and lead-free reliability. Alongside this event, the three-day Technology and Vendor Conference explored several environmental protection issues, advanced processes and emerging technologies.

Additional activities offered by Reed during the event included the 2011 EDN China Automotive Electronics Forum, attended by 200 lively participants; the Electrostatic Prevention Technology Forum, which highlighted the latest general solutions in electronics manufacturing; and the NEPCON Fans Club, which saw large numbers of visitors sign up via the Weibo microblogging service and QQ instant messaging. The SMT Home Member Gathering attracted 200 participants. The new NEPCON-HC Group Buying Platform and Diamond Club Wine Tasting activities were also well-received by the show’s attendees.

“We always keep a close eye on the NEPCON events organized by Reed Exhibitions China,” said Zhong Xishun, chairman of Shenzhen Hualipu Electronics. “The shows are the best place to get product information that’s both detailed and up-to-date. Compared to other exhibitions in the electronics industry, NEPCON is the most professionally put together.”
