Poised to be the largest in its history, EuroShop 2014 is set to be held Feb. 16-20 in Düsseldorf, Germany. A highly anticipated event, the world’s leading retail trade fair enters its 18th year tradeshow to offer a vital platform for future trends, visions and retail impressions.

“Nowhere else is retail able to experience such a wide range of developments, solutions and innovations in direct international comparison and discuss them with experts like they can at the EuroShop in Düsseldorf,” stated Elke Moebius, director, EuroShop. “With 2,200 exhibitors covering more than 115,000 [square meters] actual exhibition space, EuroShop 2014 is larger, more multifaceted and more creative than ever before.”

ECN-012014_EuroShop-(Web)Premiering this year, the Lighting Designers’ Zone in the EuroConcept segment is already completely booked. Independent lighting planners and designers will showcase products that are not tied to a manufacturer, product or brand.

Mobile solutions, e-commerce and multi-channel retailing will play a large role at the multi-channel forum, also debuting at EuroCIS. Organized by the E-Commerce Center for Retail Research in Cologne, retail strategies of the future and best practice examples from the multi-channel retail area are being introduced.

Facing some challenges, radical changes in consumer buying behavior and rapid technological change have influenced entrepreneurship in the retail industry, according to Michael Gerling, managing director, EHI Retail Institute. Customers expect autonomy in selecting the purchase channel, requiring retail businesses to integrate brick-and-mortar, online and mobile platforms.

Among the special zones featured will be “re.lab – retail future lab.” The European Visual Marketing Merchandising Association and the University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf are to present the new degree program in retail design for the first time.

Other trends will also be addressed with expert forums and conferences including the latest shopfitting and architectural solutions, theatrical store lighting, and sustainable construction.

Breuninger, a fashion and lifestyle company, together with Messe Düsseldorf, will offer a unique shopping experience. On Feb. 17, Breuninger will open its doors at the Kö-Bogen after all shops have officially closed for exclusive shopping opportunity for exhibitors and trade fair visitors.
