Messe Berlin sees successful, action-packed 2014

In 2014, marking a turnover of more than 265 million euros, the Messe Berlin group of companies achieved its highest turnover in the company’s history, which by far exceeded the previous record of 247 million euros in 2012.

More than 27,000 exhibitors and over 1.9 million visitors attended a total of 69 trade fairs and congresses. Among the year’s special highlights were the successful opening events at the CityCube Berlin.

“The Land of Berlin and Messe Berlin operate very closely and successfully together. Messe Berlin generates business travel for Berlin and acts as a media ambassador on a major scale, ensuring employment for over 25,000 people. On the other hand, the city offers great advantages and an ideal environment for the events industry, enabling us to create and attract interesting trade fairs, congresses and events in Berlin. As a result, since the year 2000, Messe Berlin has generated an extra 30 billion euros of spending power in the Berlin/Brandenburg region,” Dr. Christian Göke, CEO, Messe Berlin GmbH.

Successful opening events at the CityCube Berlin

In 2014, the Guest Events Division — with its trade fairs and congresses — contributed significantly to successful business at Messe Berlin. This was the result of the successful move to the CityCube Berlin, the newly opened trade fair and congress venue, from the International Congress Center Berlin that has now closed down. By the end of the year, Messe Berlin’s new event venue was able to demonstrate its multi-purpose qualities at trade fairs and congresses many times over. During the course of the year, 27 guest events and 25 congresses took place in the CityCube Berlin, the ICC Berlin and at Berlin ExpoCenter City. The trade fairs were attended by over 4,550 exhibitors and more than 261,000 visitors. Around 105,000 attendees from Germany and abroad took part in national and international congresses, among them numerous large-scale medical congresses.

Leading trade fairs expand

The 2014 program of events included all of Messe Berlin’s leading trade fairs. Once again the International Green Week Berlin, FRUIT LOGISTICA Berlin, ITB Berlin, IFA and InnoTrans, all global brands, were able to build on their reputations as the world’s leading events in their respective sectors.

2015 begins with an anniversary event

In 2015, the calendar of events will be dominated by new trade fairs, conferences and events as well as the International Green Week Berlin (now in its eightieth year), FRUIT LOGISTICA, ITB Berlin and IFA, all leading trade fairs taking place every year.

With the Allergy & Free From Show / V Delicious (Berlin ExpoCenter City, Jan. 23-25), AsiaApparel Expo (Berlin ExpoCenter City, Feb. 15-17), Metropolitan Solutions (CityCube, May 20-22) and Stage Set Scenery (Berlin ExpoCenter City, June 9-11) the trade fair company in the capital will be inviting participants to numerous debut events in Berlin. In 2015, following a long break, a highly glamorous event will be making its return to the exhibition grounds. On June 19, the Palais am Funkturm will host a gala event, the German Film Awards, the ceremony that presents Germany’s most coveted cultural prize.
