LVCVA board appointments through 2015

 

Swearing to support, protect and defend the constitutions of Nevada and the U.S., members were reappointed or added to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Bureau (LVCVA) Board of Directors through 2015.

The 14-member board, which guides LVCVA in its goal to grow Southern Nevada as a major tourist destination, must include eight elected officials, and six must be appointed by the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce, the largest business organization in Nevada, and Nevada Resort Association, which represents the state’s gaming and resort industries.

Appointments for the July 2013 through June 2015 term were announced during the July 9 meeting of the Board of Directors at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Two lineup changes occurred: Mayor John Lee of North Las Vegas replaced Shari L. Buck, who lost her reelection campaign to Lee in April. Recommended by the Nevada Resort Association, John Caparella, president and COO, Venetian Resort, took over the seat previously held by Scott Nielson of Station Casinos.

derson; George Rapson, councilman, City of Mesquite; and Mayor Pro Tem Cam Walker, City of Boulder City.

Two from the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce were also reappointed, including President and CEO Kristin McMillan along with Tom Jenkin, global president of destination markets, Caesars Entertainment Corp.

The Nevada Resort Association also recommended the reappointment of Charles Bowling, president and COO, Mandalay Bay Resort.
