Kyoto CVB offers traditional cultural activity for delegates

Kyoto Convention and Visitors Bureau, the official destination marketing organization for the Japanese city, will give international business visitors access to one of the country’s most ancient performing arts.

A traditional sword play and performance organization, Samurai Kembu Kyoto allows event organizers and delegates to experience Japanese culture as part of their business program.

“We are happy to welcome Samurai Kembu Kyoto as a member of the Kyoto Convention and Visitors Bureau. Kyoto stands out from other business destinations because of its rich culture and heritage. The plethora of cultural attractions on offer makes the city a more attractive place to do business. Event organizers choosing to take advantage of the city’s vast variety of cultural activities, such as Samurai Kembu, provide delegates with an everlasting memory of Kyoto and the time they spend in the city. Incorporating culture into an event enhances a delegates experience and boosts business within the city,” said James Widgren, international marketing coordinator, Kyoto Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The word kembu means ‘sword dance’ and is the Japanese traditional performing art that shows the culture of the samurai. In feudal times, samurai were said to perform kembu to give themselves courage or to achieve mental concentration. By participating in a kembu session, delegates can learn about samurai and samurai kembu, and put into practice the etiquette of samurai.
