John Stephenson Selected as Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau Chair for 2018

John Stephenson (pictured right) has been tapped as chair of the board of directors for Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau in 2018. Stephenson is the director of strategic partnerships and special projects for Chick-fil-A.

“John’s active involvement in Atlanta’s hospitality community since the Centennial Olympic Games shows his commitment and vision for the city moving forward,” says William Pate, president and CEO, ACVB. “As Atlanta continues to gain recognition as a city of championships, John’s leadership will be a huge benefit to ACVB.”

Stephenson has served on ACVB’s board since 2013 and executive committee since 2017 and also has a gubernatorial appointment to the Georgia Telecommunications Commission, serves as a chairman of the Georgia Public Broadcasting Foundation and sits on Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation Board of Trustees. Stephenson received both his Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Science from the University of Georgia.

“As a native Atlantan and hospitality team member at the 1996 Summer Olympics, I have always been a proud advocate of Atlanta’s unique mix of Southern hospitality, world-class attractions and award-winning restaurants, making it a premier leisure and convention destination,” says Stephenson. “I am honored and excited to chair the ACVB board of directors this year, and I look forward to serving the talented and dedicated professionals that deliver such an important industry to our city.”

ACVB’s chair is elected by the board of directors following a nomination by the organization’s executive committee.

Established in 1913, Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau is the official destination marketing organization for the city and serves to favorably impact Atlanta’s economy through conventions and tourism.
