The International Association of Assembly Managers (IAAM) voted electronically this past month to change the organization’s name to the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM). The results of the ballot were made public during the keynote address at VenueConnect, the 85th annual conference and tradeshow, in Houston, Texas.

The Annual Northern California EDPA Chapter Golf Tournament was held on Thursday, August 5th at Crystal Springs Golf Course in Burlingame, Calif. Ten teams enjoyed perfect weather on a spectacular course before networking at the bar, enjoying a delicious dinner, attending an award ceremony and winning a nice selection of raffle prizes.

The Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR) announced the release of two new industry reports.

The first is a Guru Report: Space Allocation Methods for Exhibitions and Events, written by Randy Bauler, CEM, and sponsored by the Exhibition Services & Contractors Association. This new report outlines some of the more common exhibit space allocation methods employed by organizers of exhibitions and events.

Meeting Professionals International (MPI) announced its 2010-2011 board of directors, MPI volunteer chairs and MPI Foundation global board of trustees, for the fiscal year July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011.

The American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and The Center for Association Leadership will offer a virtual component to its 2010 annual meeting and exposition, just one of the several new twists at the event, scheduled to take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center August 21-24.
