Events and interesting facts that have shaped the industry
Tradeshow history reported by Exhibit City News2005The Healthcare Convention and Exhibitors Association (HCEA) celebrated its 75th diamond anniversary in New Orleans. At the end of the event HCEA attendees and members literally danced in commemoration and merriment. 2006 Reba Pittman Walker was named CEO and general manager of the Washington Convention Center (WCC). Walker was one of the pioneer staff members of Washington’s original convention center. 2007 Exhibit City News, the nation’s only tradeshow newspaper, launched the inaugural edition of its sister publication Tradeshow Lifestyles to the world; the newspaper highlighted travel hotspots, such as dining, lodging and entertainment which would be of interest to the tradeshow community. 2008 July was a star-studded month with Russell Simmons as the keynote speaker at JCK Las Vegas and Rod Stewart performing at the grand opening of the World Market Center. 2009 Spinvox unveiled an award winning display at CTIA Wireless. It was a 20-by-20-foot creation comprised of oversized, colorful blocks, figurines and dolls. According to Exhibit City News, the adults at the show interacted with the display as though it were one big toy. |
