Inaugural CES Asia sees strong participation

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), a technology trade association, announced Feb. 4 that more than 4,500 consumer technology professionals from 80 countries have registered for the inaugural International CES Asia, the premier event for the consumer technology industry, since the launch of registration in January.

CES Asia will run May 25-27 in Shanghai, China, at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC) and will draw global businesses to showcase the latest products and technologies entering the Asian marketplace.

Print“This strong response underscores the importance of and demand for CES Asia to showcase the full breadth and depth of the innovation value-chain in the Asian marketplace,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. “From tech powerhouses to innovative startups, we will have manufacturers, developers and suppliers here to grow and reinforce their brands by showcasing the latest products and technologies to a global audience of decision makers.”

Registration of consumer technology professionals include domestic and international buyers, resellers, distributors, manufacturers, engineers, product designers, CTOs, CIOs, CXOs, investment managers and others involved in purchasing decisions. Initial numbers confirm CES Asia as an international gathering place for tech industry influencers as more than half of pre-registrants are from outside of China, with 37 percent from Europe, North America, South America, Oceania, Africa and the Middle East, and 20 percent from parts of Asia other than mainland China.

More than 80 global businesses have already secured exhibit space to launch new products across 20,000 gross square meters (8,500 net square meters) of exhibit space in its first year. With a show theme of Internet of Things, innovation and connectivity, product categories featured on the CES Asia show floor and conference program will include: 3D printing, robotics, lifestyle, smart home, sports and fitness, wearables and more. A comprehensive list of notable exhibitors will be announced at CEA’s upcoming CES Unveiled Tokyo event, which will take place on Feb. 18 in Tokyo, Japan.

CEA is co-producing CES Asia with Intex Shanghai Co., Ltd., a prominent producer of international tradeshows in China. Special co-organizers for CES Asia include the Chinese Electronic Chamber of Commerce (CECC) and the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Product (CCCME).
