IAEE selects 2011 Legend of the Industry for Krakoff Leadership Institute

The International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) has announced the selection of the 2011 “Legend of the Industry” for this year’s IAEE Krakoff Leadership Institute in June.

Each year, IAEE selects a “Legend of the Industry” whose contributions, innovation and leadership have been truly unique and remarkable. An informal setting then allows each participant one-on-one time with this industry leader.

Bob Dallmeyer, CEO of the consulting firm RD International, is IAEE’s 2011 selection.

“I am honored to have been selected as this year’s ‘Legend of the Industry,'” said Dallmeyer. “As an educator, it is always satisfying to stand before eager students and share what you know. The fact that this group has been hand-selected as the up-and-coming leaders of the industry is very fulfilling.”

Bob Dallmeyer has been actively involved in many exhibitions and events industry associations, and is the past-chairman of both IAEE and the Trade Show Exhibitors Association (TSEA), as well as a former director of the Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR). He is currently a director of The International Center for Exhibitor and Event Marketing (ICEEM).

Dallmeyer began his career managing United Technologies worldwide event and exhibitions program. He then organized events for Warner Brothers in Hollywood, Electronic Conventions, the California Restaurant Association, and numerous other show organizers.

Dallmeyer currently writes the “Power Lunch” column for Trade Show Executive Magazine and was recently the 2010 Conference Chairman for TS2: Total Solutions Marketing for the Exhibit and Event Professional.

This year’s facilitator, Erick Burton, CSP, is frequently described as powerful, positive and practical. As president of the Burton Leadership Center, he has partnered with hundreds of corporations and associations as a professional speaker, facilitator, executive coach and author.

Institute alumni, or those who previously attended the Krakoff Leadership Institute, will participate in the Krakoff Advanced Leadership Institute, which is designed to develop leadership skills, broaden industry knowledge, create a close support network among participants and enhance requisite motivational and communications skills.

The participants selected for the 2011 Institute are judged on the following criteria:

Evidence of at least three years of full-time experience in the exhibitions and events industry
A personal commitment to, and passion for, the exhibitions and events industry
An indication of their willingness and ability to become a thought leader and motivator of others
A commitment to remain actively involved in the Institute
Insight into how they view the future of the exhibitions and events industry and how they propose to influence that future
