IAEE future leaders receive scholarship opportunity

In a unified effort to further the opportunities afforded to the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) future leaders, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) announced it will award two scholarships to two graduates of IAEE’s Robert L. Krakoff Future Leaders Institute to attend the Exhibition and Convention Executives Forum (ECEF) on June 1, 2011.

“On behalf of the LVCVA, we are very excited to sponsor these scholarships which will provide an opportunity for dedicated young professionals seeking to make a difference in the exhibitions and events industry,” said Chris Meyer, CEM, CMP, IAEE immediate past chairman and Future Leaders Institute graduate. “More than 15 years ago, I made one of the best choices of my career by attending the Future Leaders Institute, and I still use much of what I learned, as well as maintain the close network of business relationships I formed.”

Eligible scholarship participants must be employed by an exhibition or event organizer and must have successfully graduated from the Future Leaders Institute.

Applicants will be required to submit an essay detailing their learning objective for attending ECEF, and based on a comprehensive review by a panel of industry executives, the scholarships will be awarded in March 2011.

Scholarship recipients will receive a full ECEF registration, round-trip airfare and a two-night hotel stay.

“This collective effort by IAEE, LVCVA and ECEF shows that together, we are committed to the excellence of the future leaders of the exhibitions and events industry,” says Steven Hacker, CAE, IAEE president. “This unprecedented opportunity will make a positive and valuable difference in the careers of those who choose to enhance their professional development by applying for these scholarships. Additionally, IAEE extends its gratitude to both Chris Meyer and the LVCVA and Sam Lippman, producer of ECEF for their generosity and vision for making this a reality.”

Additional details will be posted on http://www.iaee.com/events/futureleaders/ in the coming weeks. The 2011 Future Leaders Institute will be held on June 1-4, 2011 in Washington, D.C.
