Hotel complex offers fastest Internet in Kansas City, Mo.

The Sheraton and Westin Kansas City at Crown Center now offer the fastest hotel Internet within Kansas City, Mo.

To keep their group offerings state-of-the-art, the hotel complex is increasing from 200 megabytes of bandwidth to 1 gigabyte, a 500 percent increase. The new bandwidth will be delivered by fiber rather than wirelessly. The hotels are also upgrading routers and switches to be able to support the new speeds.

Prior to 2012, the Westin and Sheraton had 50 megabytes of bandwidth per hotel. In 2012, both hotels were upgraded to 100 megabytes along with improved infrastructure to support the doubling of bandwidth.

By the end of the year, new lighting and carpeting will be added in Exhibit Hall B. The Exhibit Hall at Crown Center offers 52,000-square feet of versatile space that can accommodate any gathering at the Westin or Sheraton. The hall can be used as one facility or divided into two distinct spaces: one of more than 30,000-square feet (Hall A) and one of 15,000-square feet (Hall B).

The hotel complex will install energy-efficient, dimmable LED lighting in Exhibit Hall B as part of the renovation. They will also install carpet to give the space more of a ballroom setting; the space currently has concrete floor.
