HCEA’s Annual Meeting opens at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas on Saturday, June 25. HCEA’s Annual Meeting is the only educational conference in North America that focuses solely on the needs of both healthcare exhibit marketers and medical meeting organizers.

The HCEA Annual Meeting is the must-attend industry event for all healthcare exhibit and convention marketers, medical association exhibition managers, medical meeting planners and suppliers to the industry. The curriculum will focus on regulatory and compliance issues; measurement; marketing; event logistics and planning; global congresses and exhibiting; technology and professional/personal development.

Special events on Saturday before the Opening Reception
Before the welcome reception on Saturday evening at New York New York, HCEA is holding an Association-Only Roundtable to allow extended time for healthcare association professionals to share best practices in an exclusive setting.

During the day on Saturday, attendees may participate in two optional events, both with a corporate social responsibility focus: a community volunteer activity and charity donation program, or a golf outing with a charity element.

The community service project volunteers will support military families through Operation Homefront, an organization that assists families of U.S. service members. Participants will organize into teams to assemble a picnic table, a garden planter and a swing set for these families. Plus bins will be set up to collect unopened shampoos, conditioners and soaps, as well as school supplies for children in pre-K through 12th grade. These items will be collected and donated to the Shade Tree Shelter, a Las Vegas shelter for homeless and abused women, children and pets. The Wynn will send used hotel toiletries to Clean the World, an organization that distributes recycled soap products and educational materials to impoverished countries and domestic homeless shelters.

Chip for Charity is the theme for the golf outing, to be held at the Tournament Players Club. All proceeds from mulligans and a putting contest will be donated to Operation Homefront. First-timers and non-golfers are invited to join the outing as part of the new First-Timers Golf Clinic, which will include lessons with a dedicate pro on golf basics.

Innovation in the Exhibit Hall
HCEA always strives to introduce innovative elements into the Annual Meeting, and this year is no exception. In addition to a sold-out exhibit hall, there will be educational opportunities in the hall itself on Sunday. Attendees can expand their knowledge about compliance with the Federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act’s Sunshine provisions, especially the collection of physicians’ National Provider Identifier numbers. There will also be an opportunity for young professionals in the healthcare exhibit industry to participate in an interactive discussion about career issues they face.

The HCEA exhibit hall will debut some new features and activities including electronic wireless hotspots, the Best Booth Contest and the HCEA Hall Pass program, which gives incentives for visiting the exhibits. HCEA will also offer attendees a downloadable app that delivers updated information via their mobile phones. Participants will see session information, schedules of educational sessions and special events, exhibitor information, on-site location and way-finding capabilities, dining options, HCEA’s Twitter feed and more.

Sunday Morning Kick-Off
Sunday morning will open with breakfast and a keynote by The O’Shea Report. Described as “Saturday Night Live for Business,” The O’Shea Report will get the meeting underway by encouraging attendees to look at the fast-paced, constantly changing business world with a fresh perspective. Husband and wife team Tim and Kris O’Shea will engage attendees with business humor and relevant insights on the day-to-day challenges of today’s business world.

HCEA is the only association solely dedicated to improving the effectiveness of all conventions, meetings and exhibitions for the healthcare industry. HCEA represents organizations involved in healthcare exhibitions and conventions. For more information, visit www.hcea.org.
