HCEA Summit showcases education on Sunshine provisions

An open dialogue about the Sunshine provisions from the 2010 Federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and case studies on determining fair market value for healthcare conventions will be featured educational highlights of the 2012 Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association (HCEA) Healthcare Convention Marketing Summit. The meeting, to be held January 19, 2012, at the Hyatt Harborside at Boston’s Logan International Airport, provides a specialized forum showcasing interactive education focused on strategic marketing needs.

Learning opportunities include the following sessions:

Shedding Light on Sunshine: An Open Discussion about What the Law Means to You
This session provides attendees from all aspects of the industry the opportunity to engage in an open dialogue regarding the latest news and analysis around the Sunshine provisions from the 2010 PPACA. We will also look at the perspectives of various industry stakeholders and what the main concerns and opinions are of each group.

Fair Market Value: Case Studies for Creating a Formula that Works for You
Healthcare convention marketers are continually being challenged to determine which medical meetings make the most sense to participate in. During this session you will learn options for using fair market analysis data in determining the right formula for show participation. Highlighted will be case studies on fair market analysis from Smith & Nephew Inc. and DePuy.

Other sessions feature a panel discussion on physicians sharing their views of healthcare conventions, an interactive dialogue regarding issues of transparency in the healthcare convention marketing industry and a technology “mash-up” exploring different ways to utilize technology to promote learning in a convention setting.
