HCEA names president for 2014-15

A GE Healthcare executive was named the 2014-2015 president of the Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association (HCEA), which represents organizations involved in health care exhibitions and conventions.

Diane Benson, CTSM, Americas Exhibits Leader, GE Healthcare, assumed the role of HCEA president during the 2014 HCEA Annual Meeting in Cleveland, Ohio, June 21-24.

Benson’s more than 25-year career in tradeshow marketing spans both the exhibitor and supplier sides of this industry. Currently a member of EXHIBITOR magazine’s Editorial Advisory Board, she holds a B.S. degree in Business Marketing from the University of Phoenix. As one of the earliest CTSMs in the industry, Benson was awarded her Diamond upgrade in 2012 and is currently one of only seven Diamond-level CTSMs in the world.

During her acceptance speech at the HCEA Annual Meeting, Benson emphasized the importance of sharing knowledge with one another to ensure the continued success of HCEA as an organization and the industry:

“HCEA is a community unlike any other. No one else offers the unique blend of corporate health care exhibitors, association meeting planners and trusted business partners, where we collaborate to share best practices, learn whatever is important to move our businesses forward and learn how to compliantly and consistently deliver strong, successful results to our stakeholders.”

Benson continued, “In all my years in this industry, I have received more encouragement, more support, more answers to my questions from HCEA than with any other group of people in my professional career.”

Involved with HCEA since the late 1980s, Benson has served on the HCEA board of directors since 2010. She served as HCEA president-elect during 2013-2014.
