HCEA Annual Meeting to analyze social media results measurement

Federal healthcare reform and other compliance developments, the continuing growth of social media and the need to provide improved results accountability are among several critical learning themes addressed in the 60 workshops scheduled for the 2010 HCEA Annual Meeting, to be held June 26-29, in New Orleans at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.


“Big Challenge.  Big Opportunity.  Big Easy.” is the theme of this year’s meeting, which will also provide education on topics related to global exhibiting, best practices, generating traffic, sponsorships and personal development. The program will be targeted specifically to pharmaceutical and medical device marketers and healthcare association professionals.

Examples of workshops include:
• “Using the Internet and Social Media to Promote FDA-Regulated Medical Products,” with Barbara Chong, team leader, Division of Drug Marketing, Advertising and Communications (DDMAC), Food and Drug Administration (FDA)

• “A Moving Target: Compliance in the Era of Federal Healthcare Reform” with Lucy Rose, president, Lucy Rose and Associates, LLC

• “CMSS Code for Interactions with Companies” with Dr. Norman B. Kahn, Jr., executive vice president and CEO, Council of Medical Specialty Societies

• “New Research on How Healthcare Professionals Engage with eMedia” with Rhonda Wickham, director of content, Ascend Integrated Media

• “Measurement Best Practice:  Philips Healthcare Merges RFID with Research to Measure Behavior and Results” with Kimberly Foley, global director of event marketing, Philips Healthcare

• “The Convention Portal – A One-Stop Answer for Managing Convention Housing, Registration and Much More” with Ann Marie Bermudez, manager of conventions and medical events, Daiichi Sankyo, Inc.

In addition, the HCEA Annual Meeting will feature keynote speaker James Carville, the renowned political strategist and colorful commentator. Carville will speak about the recent transformation in New Orleans and will touch upon some of the latest developments in Washington.

The HCEA Annual Meeting also offers attendees the opportunity to earn continuing education units that apply toward the Certified Manager of Exhibits – Healthcare (CME/H) and Certified Manager of Exhibits (CME) professional designations.
