Greetings to Readers Here, There and Everywhere!

I recently returned from a firsthand look at the many great things going on in Cleveland.

Their infrastructure to host meetings and events has made leaps forward…and the excitement from the people who work in that market is hard to conceal. From the spacious and convenient I-X Center by the airport to the brand new convention center on the lakefront…interest by groups wanting information about bringing their tradeshow or event to Cleveland has exploded.

Proximity to the airport from the downtown lakefront area, plus the extreme walkability from hotels, restaurants and attractions, make Cleveland an appealing choice when your event does not have a huge transportation budget.

Our July print issue features international marketing and exhibiting in Europe and other continents. More U.S. exhibitors are choosing to expand and exhibit overseas where learning to adapt to the customs of other countries can be critical to putting on a successful show. We also share the charitable side of the trade show industry in recognizing the commendable efforts of companies that give back to their communities in their time of need.

Instead of a summer vacation, the editorial board has decided to send me to cover IFES and AIPC in Cape Town, South Africa (one of South Africa’s most important venues for events). The International Federation of Exhibition & Event Services (IFES) 2013 World Summit will discuss the current and future effects of sustainability upon the industry. AIPC, an association of convention and exhibition centers, will contextualize the importance of convention centers’ roles in local communities amid uncertain global conditions at this year’s Annual Conference and 55th General Assembly. Watch for ECN coverage from these important and unique industry events!

At this time next year, Exhibit City News will be celebrating 20 years of providing relevant tradeshow industry news, trends and events. We are looking to our loyal readers to help us make it the best yet! Send in your photos, funny tidbits and favorite memories that best commemorate the last two decades within the trade show industry.
