ExCeL London twice wins Best Venue Award

ExCeL London is delighted to have won the coveted Best Venue over 10,000m² Award at the annual Exhibition News Awards, which occurred on April 10.

The award, which ExCeL has won for the second consecutive year, celebrates growth, success and the initiatives put into place by venues to support organizers over the last year.

“Winning this award represents a great achievement for the team, and we’re delighted to be recognized by our industry peers in this way. Awards, such as these, highlight that the success of our venue is inextricably tied to that of our customers- this is something that we take very seriously. At ExCeL, our aim is to host and grow world- class, marketing-leading events, and we are therefore committed to working closely with organizers in the pursuit of success — always looking to add value, support business objectives and deliver the best event experience to their customers,” stated
Jeremy Rees, executive director of exhibitions, ExCeL London.

In 2014, ExCeL increased the number of exhibitions that it hosted by 50 percent, bringing over 91 exhibitions to the venue; including 14 new launches and 17 relocations. Shows taking place at ExCeL enjoyed an average increase in visitor attendance of 17 percent.

The award comes as ExCeL London continues to invest in innovations and infrastructure to deliver the best possible event experience for visitors and organizers. The venue has upgraded its free Wi-Fi offering to enable visitors to stay connected; entered new partnerships with AirPortr and Europcar; and committed £15m in investment to enhance the venue experience by providing a world-class food and hospitality offering throughout. Meanwhile, 2014 saw the launch of ExCeL’s first ‘Conversion Convention’ at Canary Wharf, which brought together one of the UK’s leading sales and marketing experts – Grant Leboff- with organizers, to look at ways to improve conversion levels, content and value marketing.

Organizer satisfaction is a key barometer for ExCeL’s success and the venue’s mission is to go that extra mile; working closely with organizers to help them achieve their objectives and deliver great event experiences. In 2013, a KPI was set to increase organizer feedback scores from an 84 percent satisfaction rating to 90 percent in three years. The ExCeL teams achieved this goal just a year later and have continued to maintain this benchmark ever since.

Other winners at the Exhibition News Awards included MCM Comic Con (Best Brand Expansion; Best Consumer show) and Flood Defense and Prevention Expo (Show Rising Star); both of which take place at ExCeL.
