EWI Worldwide, a global live communications company, announced the recent launch of its event works division and the appointment of Suzanne Wells Miell as its president. Miell and her team will expand the company’s existing event capabilities and focus on producing global event programs for global brands.

“Coming out of the recession we see a real trend of brands consolidating exhibition, event and retail channels globally to drive message consistency, program efficiency and cost savings,” said Dominic Silvio, founder and CEO of EWI Worldwide. “Suzanne brings an experienced global team, strengthening our event capability around the world.”

Building on EWI’s experience producing business theatre and PR events, the new division allows brands from diverse industries to consolidate their global event programs. Miell and her team, including industry veteran Doug Edelson as director of operations, expand EWI’s portfolio with sales and user-group meetings, developer forums, seminar series, multi-city tours, award, VIP and incentive programs, sporting and concert events, among others.

Working with the same dedicated team across multiple event platforms will help clients create seamless programs that deliver a consistent message.

“It’s exciting to integrate our capabilities with a truly global company that has such deep experience across all phases of live communications,” says Miell. “There is a real opportunity here for current and prospective EWI Worldwide clients looking to grow their programs globally or even consolidate to fewer partners.”

Miell brings more than 20 years of global event marketing expertise to EWI Worldwide with clients like Intel, Google, Palm, GE, Nissan and Bayer. She has led agency-side, event strategy operations and business development teams throughout the Asia-Pacific region and the U.S. for a variety of global brands.

On the brand-side, Miell brings a unique perspective from past roles as director of event management on IBM’s global agency team and as strategic events manager at The Coca-Cola Company where she handled external events worldwide. Miell has produced events on six continents and at one time was based in Sydney, Australia.

Industry veteran Doug Edelson joins the new division as director of operations. He brings over 20 years of leading the event efforts for such clients as DIRECTV, LG Electronics, GlaxoSmithKline and AT&T. In his off-hours, Edelson heads Graffiti Productions, a non-profit program that engages at-risk youth through theater and video production.
