European convention bureaus to meet in Warsaw

On Sept. 24-25, a meeting between the directors of European national convention bureaus will take place in Warsaw, Poland. Strategic partnership is a first of its kind initiative aimed at strengthening the global position of Europe as a place for meetings and events.

“An alliance of national, European congresses and meetings’ bureaus is an opportunity to exchange views, set common strategies and discuss the role of Europe in the global meetings market,” said Krzysztof Celuch, head of PCB PTO.

The idea first conceived by Eric Bakermans of Netherlands Board of Tourism and Conventions and Matthias Schultze of German Convention Bureau gained popularity over the year, boasting 17 members. The purpose of this informal group of European national convention bureaus is the exchange of knowledge as well as cooperation in order to improve the position of each of the members, and to strengthen Europe’s position as a leading continent in the organization of business events in the world.

“We believe that when current and future trends of congress and incentive market are taken under consideration , Europe is going to be an extremely attractive alternative for international meeting planners. Coalition of national convention bureaus will not only serve as a platform for exchanging experience, but it will also strengthen the MICE offer of the entire region,” added Mateusz Czerwinski, director, Warsaw Convention Bureau.
