Dominican resort hires hospitality veteran

Meliá Caribe Tropical, part of a large international hotel-resort chain, appointed a new director of sales and marketing in Punta Cana, the Dominican Republic.

Overseeing all marketing and sales efforts for the resort is Florian Connert. At Meliá Caribe Tropical, Florian looks forward to introducing and positioning the new elevated guestroom concept “THE LEVEL,” with the help of the property’s global sales team.

“We are thrilled to have Florian join the Meliá Caribe Tropical team,” said Manfred Schoebel, general manager, Meliá Caribe Tropical. “We are looking forward to building on the success of the resort and believe that Florian’s experience will help Meliá Caribe Tropical become even more accomplished in the years to come.”

A 15-year veteran in the hospitality industry, Florian built an extensive portfolio at several companies. His past positions include regional director of sales and marketing for the BlueBay Group in Cancun, Mexico, and regional director of sales, Caribbean for AM Resorts in Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic, among others.

His strengths are due to multi-national experience and his ability to consistently increase market share and maximize profits. Florian’s experience lies in the North America, Europe and Latin American tourism industry, including tour operators and other industry segments.

Florian speaks a number of languages, including English, Spanish, German, Italian and French.
In his spare time, Florian enjoys soccer, baseball and family.  He currently resides in Punta Cana with his wife, Marilyn, and his two boys, Florian and Sebastian.
