“It is an honor to be working with such a group of great professionals at the DMAI Board of Directors,” said Segarra. “I am looking forward to the sharing of ideas and programs with my colleagues to help all of our destinations be the best they can be.”

Segarra is a well-respected business leader with a wealth of experience in Puerto Rico’s tourism sector. In addition to serving as executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, he has served as Secretary of the Department of Economic Development and Commerce. Segarra has also held various sales, marketing and top management positions with Puerto Rico’s top international hotel brands including Hilton Hotels & Resorts and Hyatt Resorts Puerto Rico.

DMAI Chairman Bob Lander said, “We are very pleased to have Milton Segarra join us on the Board of Directors. It is a very exciting time for the travel industry, especially in his neck of the woods. His understanding of our mission and continual opportunity, and his experience both at DMAI and international DMOs, makes him a natural fit for the leadership of our organization.”

“I believe the sustained success of DMAI is a tribute to the remarkable leadership and unique level of collaboration within our industry,” said Michael Gehrisch, president and CEO, DMAI. “DMAI is an association driven by its volunteer leadership, and we pride ourselves on creating an environment and community where you have much to gain and much to contribute. As we look towards what the future holds for our industry, we are privileged to have such strong leadership guiding the way. There has never been a more exciting time for DMOs and the DMAI community.”

As the global trade association for official marketing destinations, DMAI protects and advances the success of destinations marketing worldwide. DMAI’s membership includes over 600 official DMOs with more than 4,100 staff members in over 15 countries that command more than $2 billion in annual budgets.
