An expert in cross cultural business, Daniel Tschudy will speak as part of CIBTM Knowledge at this year’s show from Sept. 2- 4 at the China National Convention Centre in Beijing.
On the first day of CIBTM 2013, Tschudy will present Cross Cultural Competence in the Global Incentive & Meetings Industry, a 60-minute session discussing the importance of intercultural awareness and competence within the global meetings industry.
“Cross cultural expertise is relevant for everyone in direct contact with any foreign audience, may it be employees, partners or customers,” Tschudy explained. “Conducting successful business on a global scale requires in-depth knowledge of each specific country, not just the language but mentality, origin, values, manners and status.”
According to Tschudy, he aims to build an understanding of the issues surrounding cross cultural business, enabling the avoidance of misunderstandings and unintentional insults to facilitate efficient business dealings.
“Tschudy’s research will support our attendees by providing theoretical knowledge and practical advice on the most effective way to conduct business across cultures,” said Erica Keogan, associations and education manager, Meetings & Events Portfolio, Reed Travel Exhibitions.
CIBTM is organized by Reed Travel Exhibitions, which arranges travel industry events for trade professionals around the world.
“Research conducted by Reed Travel Exhibitions following the last edition of CIBTM highlighted that the top countries for Asian buyers hosting events outside of China are the U.S., Germany, France, UK, and Australia,” added Keogan. “This demonstrates the extent to which CIBTM attendees conduct international business, confirming a need for increased cross culture awareness.”
Highlighting the relevance of Tschudy’s topic for regional and international audiences is that last year’s CIBTM attracted 3,929 attendees from 30 countries across the world.
