Corporate social responsibility becomes trend at Wilmington

Organizations are becoming increasingly interested in not only producing a successful and memorable event, but also in giving attendees and members a way to give back to a good cause.

The North Carolina Healthcare Engineers Association (NCHEA) decided to prioritize corporate social responsibility (CSR) during the group’s annual meeting Aug. 19-22 at The Wilmington Convention Center. As a result, NCHEA’s conference hit both record attendance and number of exhibitors this year.

As part of the overall theme to “Engage,” NCHEA’s goal was to influence their attendees and members to not only engage within the company, but in the community as well. Connect, serve, enrich and invite were the four-pillar focus points of the event, inspiring NCHEA to incorporate a CSR initiative.

Aligned with a passion for health care, NCHEA successfully partnered with Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center, and the SECU Family House at New Hanover Regional Medical center, to provide care bags for the groups.

As a result, NCHEA received sizable donations from individuals and companies, as well as an overwhelming number of volunteers who confirmed their willingness to serve by assembling the care bags on site at the Wilmington Convention Center.

Their service to the local community is just one of example of the trend of incorporating CSR initiatives into meetings and events being seen by the Wilmington Convention Center.
