Connections Housing fills newly created senior role in D.C.

Connections Housing, an Atlanta-based meeting management, convention housing and travel services leader, appointed a new employee to the newly created post of chief innovation officer.

In this role, Brad Weaber will develop new strategies and initiatives to enhance the travel and housing experience for Connections’ growing client roster. Working from the company’s Washington, D.C. office, he will report directly to Connections Co-Founders/Owners – Kris Sieradzki and Nancy Hallberg.

With nearly 30 years of proven leadership experience in the meeting, events and hospitality industry, Weaber comes to Connections from the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau where he was executive vice president.

“If there is one constant in our business, it’s change,” added Hallberg. “Brad is a proven ‘change agent’ with a keen insight into industry trends. He has an impressive ability to motivate people and an eye for new opportunities for growth. We are excited about the future direction of our company with Brad as an integral member of our talented team.”

At Connections, Weaber will serve as the company’s change management leader, focusing on developing new social media initiatives, innovative partnerships with destination cities and venues and other programs to expand the service offerings Connections provides to its clients. He will also help oversee and direct a corporate rebranding strategy among other projects.

Connections experienced significant growth in recent years. Weaber’s new position comes on the heels of an expansion and relocation of the company’s West Coast operations, sales and marketing office in Las Vegas as well as the recent addition of airline ticking and travel services to the full roster of housing and meeting management services it provides to its clients.

The new position is the next step in Weaber’s successful and multi-faceted career. Prior to his position at the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau, Weaber served as executive vice president for association management company SmithBucklin’s largest division, Event Services, which includes Courtesy Associates, the  meeting and event planning firm that he also oversaw as its president. Before that, he was executive vice president and chief customer officer for Experient, Inc, a Maritz Travel Company. Previously, he held regional and senior vice president positions with Conferon Global Services and management roles at Renaissance Hotel.

Weaber is also actively involved in a number of industry associations and organizations, including the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE), and Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA). He has also served on advisory boards for a number of cities and hotel properties, been a featured speaker and panelist at industry events and a frequent contributor to a number of trade publications.
