Capturing the crisp details of exhibit design

Just like the components integral to constructing booths can be used in many different ways, so can the professional photographs highlighting the work of exhibit builders and designers.

High-resolution images allow exhibit houses to highlight their craftsmanship, total solutions and ability to create memorable, engaging experiences. This is essential for builders and designers who want to use photographs in portfolios, social media, presentations, and award and contest submissions.

Most commonly, exhibit houses use professional photos of their work on their official website. Here the goal is to illustrate their capabilities and inspire potential new customers. An online portfolio also shows either the diversity of the company’s work or their accomplishments serving a niche within the tradeshow industry.

  • Social media

On social media, exhibit houses tend to use platforms like Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest where the typical crowd prefers to see more photos than text. Pinterest, in particular, allows a company to show examples of how it implements part of an exhibit design. This could be beneficial for prospective customers who may recognize that an aspect of design is attractive, but they may not know the term of the concept or how it could be done. Pinning essential photographs makes foreign concepts easier to understand and identify.

In sales presentations, professional photos can allow the work shown to be taken more seriously than if it was taken with a mobile device. With some mobile devices offering lower resolutions than technically advanced cameras, getting prospective clients to understand a sales message could be obstructed by grainy shots.
In the same vein, low-quality images could prevent an awards or contest judge from seeing what they expected to be crisp, crystal-clear details.

Supporting the tradeshow industry

Gary Michael Prochorchik founded Exposures Ltd. Photography in 2004 to support the marketing efforts of exhibit builders and designers in the tradeshow industry.

“Our photos are used for advertising exhibit builders’ and designers’ wares. While most other companies photograph just for the exhibitors, it’s the exception for us,” said Prochorchik.

As the company’s president and chief imaging officer, Prochorchik and his team of architectural photographers seek to give clients the best representation of their exhibits.

“We hide products and literature that look messy. We might even pull out rented furniture or merchandising displays if they don’t support the overall design of the exhibit. We prefer to work in the evenings when lighting an exhibit or in the mornings, before the exhibitor shows up,” he stated.

While Exposures often photographs for exhibit houses, tension fabric manufacturer Moss Inc. is one of its supplier customers. In addition to photographing many tradeshow exhibits that incorporate Moss products, Exposures has also photographed a fashion show and the Boston Marathon to show Moss Inc.’s diversity.

For the Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) tradeshow, MG Design hired Exposures to photograph and videotape its exhibits.

“We spent the night creating dynamic video footage, complete with cinematic effects, to assemble for a future marketing program,” explained Prochorchik.

Exposures Ltd. Photography uses freelance photographers in every major convention destination. The company also photographs for the Healthcare Convention and Exhibitors Association (HCEA), the Exhibit Designers and Producers Association (EDPA) and EXHIBITOR tradeshows.
