Arlington CVB names new team members

Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau, a Texas-based destination marketing organization, announced a new tourism sales manager and an executive meetings specialist.

April Luter started April 8, 2015, as tourism sales manager while Stefanie Schafner started Nov. 18, 2014.

Luter brings with her over a decade of experience in destination marketing and tourism management, including past positions with the Mesquite, Salado and Waco Convention & Visitors Bureaus. Most recently, she was with Aglet Media as a senior project manager in destination marketing. She was in charge of marketing campaigns for destination clients.

“We are thrilled to have April join the team. She brings a wealth of tourism sales and DMO-specific experience to bear on the position,” said Jon Hixon, vice president of sales, Arlington CVB. “With April’s analytical and creative personality, she is sure to identify new opportunities for leisure tour groups to visit Arlington and will deliver real measurable results to the community!”

Schafner, a recent graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, joined the team after 14 months as sales manager with IHG Hotels at the Crowne Plaza Arlington and Downtown Dallas. Her market will be 10 to 50 peak room nights.

“The Arlington CVB is proud to have Stefanie on our team,” said Ronnie Price, president and CEO, Arlington CVB. “Her experience with small groups and eagerness to learn and grow in the hospitality industry makes her a great addition to our sales team.”
