Urban Expositions adds staff for Philadelphia Gift Show

Urban Expositions, a show producer and manager, announced a series of staff appointments and promotions related to its semi-annual Philadelphia Gift Show.

Marilyn Anderson, former Philadelphia Gift Show executive director, has been promoted to the newly created position of director of operations, gift. Joining the team as the new show director for the Philadelphia Gift Show is Dean Russo.

In her new role Marilyn Anderson now joins Urban’s newly created operations department to manage gift show operational duties. In addition to working closely with show teams to ensure smooth move-in, onsite and move-out activities for exhibitors, she will also serve as liaison between Urban and show decorators, security, audio visual, temp staffing, transportation, logistics and other vendors.

With the Urban team for more than 14 years, Anderson has overseen the steady growth and success of the company’s Philadelphia Gift Show. Before joining Urban, she held other roles with ASME, GES and Messe Frankfurt. Anderson will report to Donna Guess, vice president of souvenir shows and operations, and will work closely with Matt Miller, director of operations, souvenir.

Russo comes to Urban Expositions from Serlin International Transportation where he served as general manager. With years of tradeshow sales and industry experience, Russo has held leadership positions for other exhibition companies and associations throughout his career, including senior vice president of Reed Exhibitions and director of sales for the Security Industry Association.

“We are so proud to announce these new positions for these veteran tradeshow leaders. Marilyn’s invaluable contribution to the continued growth and success of our flagship Philadelphia Gift Show, coupled with her keen understanding of show operations and the role it plays in a positive experience for our exhibitor customers, made her the perfect candidate for this new position,” said Dirk von Gal, vice president of gift, Urban Expositions. “Dean’s extensive tradeshow experience, proven sale expertise, and eye for new growth opportunities, guarantee a seamless leadership transition, as well as exciting new prospects for the Philadelphia Gift Show too.”

The next edition of the Philadelphia Gift Show is scheduled for July 19-22.
